Finished Firefly
I just finished the last two episodes of Firefly! Favorite episodes are Out of Gas, War Stories, The Message, Heart of Gold, for superior plot structure and conclusiveness compared to the others. Least favorite episodes are Jaynestown, Ariel, Trash, and Objects in Space (bummer because it’s the last one). Also possibly Bushwacked because they introduced an interesting concept (the man who survives the Reavers) but fail to bring it up anytime else in the series.
The story of River and Simon could have been very effective: two fugitives seeking refuge with Malcom and his crew, which creates an “outsider” effect. After a while, however, that plotline gets so blown out of proportion that we’re introduced to two guys with Freakin-Mind-Exploding-Devices (wtf) for ONE EPISODE and they’re never brought up again. Things like that shifted the focus away from the interactions of the crew, and the jobs they take. That, to me, was the more interesting storyline, and the exploration of Simon and River’s past was too much of a detour for me.
Seriously an awesome show, quite unique and some lines are really funny! I love the way the characters bounce off each other, and the casting was superb.
